Distance learning provides students with a wide range of technology-based assistance in taking courses. With several course delivery formats, even on-ground (face-to-face) courses may provide web-based materials or activities that enhance a student’s learning experience.
There are benefits to taking a fully online course, because they allow you to “go to class” any time from any location. Of course there are still deadlines and homework assignments, but online courses provide convenience and flexibility for when and where you choose to learn.
Don’t be misled by the myth that online courses are easier and less time consuming than on-ground courses that meet at specific times on campus. Online students will probably spend the same amount of time “in class,” although it may be during different hours of the day - or night! Being self-motivated, self-directed, and self-disciplined are fundamental to your success in an online class.
